Senior year..

Senior year..
as it comes to a close for me, I wish the best for next years seniors.
Good Luck with your tests, scholarships, college searches, band state (still wishing you guys a 1!), and everything in between.
Mine has been an adventure I'll never forget, as well as the three years that trail behind it of loads of experience. Remember (this goes to anyone) that when walking through the hall, pretend you're a fish swimming against a current, or you're finding your way through a maze; make a game of it!
To all the teachers who are leaving (either for one reason or another), I wish you all good luck with what awaits you next, as life awaits me. :)
It's been great, receiving this experience, knowing you all. Coming to this school from another school (in the city) that is ten times bigger, was quite the experience. I appreciate all my band geeks, and their spirit (Remember what I've told you guys.. NEVER loose that enthusiasm.. Show the whole school just how great it is to be a part of that family!!).
I remember when i was younger.. i couldn't wait to grow up and be my own boss; but now that it's here, I'm more nervous than having to play a flute solo for a judge.. ^^;
Just a word to the wise:
Don't waste your years, don't wish them away;
enjoy your friends, enjoy your life where it's at right now.
It'll be all over way to soon.

And lastly, this is me, at home, just pure boredom at it's best. <3

Congratulations to the (my) Class of 2012! we've made it! <3

Google Drives Policy Issue

The Google Drives Policy issue is very controversial at best.

'"The terms of service are bad, but even worse is that Google has made clear it will change its terms of service whenever it wishes," said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC).'

This is what I have found on: http://www.pcworld.com/article/254600/google_drive_privacy_policies_slammed.html

This is not all, however as there is always more.. but none of it is good news..

'Still another Dropbox user, -- Mark Mc., noted that while Google might not sell or disclose data without a user's permission, "they can, however, use that data in anyway shape or form the like internally - and if that includes selling personalised [sic] ad's based on data farming of the files that I've uploaded I'm out of there!"'

There are an unfortunate number of people talking of how they are refusing to use google drive any longer; that it is all just a bunch of endless bull.

"Using music in projects" ~Reply

How does this affect me?
Easily, because in order to have the music i do, to be able to listen to it on the radio, how it catches my attention when television commercials play the music, it must be licensed. It influences my everyday life.
The fact that the "Birthday" song is copyrighted and protected just drops my jaw. I never knew, I just thought it was one of those things passed on and experienced.
Some crazy things happen in this world, I'm amazed to say, and because of that the music world is expanding into more and more confusion.
There were a lot of basics and things that i had never known, but now do.
So, just how DOES this affect me?
Easily.

citation sites.

To begin, this was a semi-frustrating assignment. All-in-all, however, I found a site i liked the most, (not even sure if it technically is a 'good' site we were supposed to be going for, but it's one that i found the most information on my book!). It may or may not have been because of my book (or what i don't know..), but the site i went with best was good reads, because There are many places to find pretty decent citing’s, but this is the best that I’ve found. Just search your title, ISBN, etc. and you’ll find your book. Not only does it give you a cover, but as well as good reviews, an option to buy it online (if you so wish), etc. I personally enjoy it, and it’s good for ANY kind of document you’re looking for. As I have said before, it may not be an ACTUAL site, but it just happened to have the most information I didn't have to input myself.

Virtual Revolution - 4 May 2012

Today in class, we watched a documentary over the "Virtual Revolution"

It was interesting (for me at least, considering i didn't have a single inkling about this whatsoever in my head) to see just how far thing's have come virtually in the last (only) twenty-one (21) years!
It's actually quite exciting, because it's not that much older than i am. and it's like I've practically grown up with this new revolution without even knowing it. I never knew the name of the guy who created the world wide web, nor anything about how or why or anything like that.. ^^; I'm certain us people have completely skewered far away from what the scientists actually had in mind for this generically amazing idea when they first brought it to us; when the first website went on the web. Although, isn't that how great ideas are supposed to go? one person develops it, hands it to the people and we do something alternately unique than what they first had?

Kinda reminds me of the Rubiks Cube:
The idea was to match up the colors so that each side had all the same.. but it's like once you do it, then you've got to tweak it a little until it becomes something completely different
than what the creator/founder had in mind.

Anyhow, I thought the movie was pretty interesting, and i learned quite a bit i had yet to learn about. It was different. What I mean, is that you go to school, and you learn about all these other historical revolutions in our past, but never hear anything about the one going on right this minute, with all of us as the (unconscious) revolutionaries. Just something different, something to wake us up and keep us involved, because we now know we ARE involved, and all the historical revolutions are just yet another teaching tool on how to do this right.

FB privacy policy

I have never, in my four years of Facebooking, thought much about the privacy settings too in depth as i probably should've. The way the privacy settings change from time to time, it's unbelievable! I also never knew you could actually Privatize almost everything on your account (put your FB privacy on lock down). Thing's are ten times more crazy then I thought it was... throwing everything out of alignment (at least for me). I don't think the Facebook policy should be that long.. It's ridiculous to think that not even the Constitution is that long! People don't already care to read it, but i for one would like to, if given the five years (yes, i over exaggerate, but still..) it takes to read every last little word. I like reading, but jeez.. -.-x
we should be given at least some fairness in this world of seriousness and cruelty..
Things this seemingly easy should not be so difficult. and i'm not just blaming FB for it's long privacy policy, oh, no. This here goes to the rest of 'em with their long, drawn out, ridiculous policies as well.
But, i digress.

Haiku

Here is my Haiku.
and in case no one knows, this is the infamous Cabbage merchant/vendor (cosplay) from the "Avatar: the Last Airbender" series. He is hilarious, and sits mighty high on my list of funniest characters from this show. :) ("foaming-at-the-mouth" guy is my #1, though.. and Sokka is in there somewhere as well..) ^_^;
And what he has to do with "The Legend of Korra" is that there is supposed to be his next generation spawning in this new series (based in the early 1920's [ATLA based in the 1800's]). :)
So, here it is:
  "Legend of Korra;
   How Could I ever begin?
   Next Generation."
Enjoy, guys!

Live Binders, Evernote, and Pinterest.

Of all three of these sites, (though as helpful as they ALL are..), I'd be more likely to use Live Binders, because the set up and lay out is simple. It helps that when you create a binder, you can not only upload and add documents and pictures from your own files, but you can insert things for Google to search as well. When you pick any topic, Google will automatically upload a few top favored sites for you to either keep or delete. I have already made two virtual (online) binders. One for my most favorite topic of the moment (The Legend of Korra) which i Googled for pages; and the other i was toying with to see, and so i uploaded our class blog page and another tab with my own home profile page.
Evernote wasn't so bad, but just for the sake of saying so, it would probably be my last pick, because Pinterest fits perfectly in slot number two for me on favorites. :)

The Legend of Korra..... :3

The Legend of Korra on Nickelodeon! <3
here is the Nickelodeons website that features more korra stuff, INCLUDING: the first two episodes, character introductions, and so much more! :D it's exciting, especially if you're an Avatard like me!! hahah... ^^; anyways.. The first episode is titled "The Legend of Korra (LOK): Welcome to Republic City" the second, "LOK: A Leaf in the wind" and the third (which is not set to air until next saturday [April 21st] at 11am) is titled "LOK: The Revelation". There is still some speculation as to which who voices which character and where everyone fits in.. also, Dante Basco (voice of Zuko in ATLA) is set to voice a new character that is in some relation with Zuko. This leaves my brain dizzy, but fused with sooo much EXCITEMENT and adrenaline i can't take much more.. still searching for some answers, but i promise to post more the second i find it! :D Thank You for listening to my infamous Otaku rant about some amazing anime! I hope at least some of you found this at least a little interesting (as it is my newest obsession!). '^^. =3

so.... here is my screencast over my site (imagechef.com) all it is, is a neat little creative site where (if you're very creative or just like to play around with things..) you'll learn a lot about what you can do online to create some "artwork" of your own! :D

.......and sorry in advance for the bad quality when in full screen! I don't know why it's doing that....

Google Alerts: Technology.

We, in this grand age, have so much
That we just don't know exactly what to do with.
This website that popped up in my alerts (which just so happens to be another persons blog... i think..) claims that:

"We already have the technology to send trains into space, at a fraction of the cost of rockets"

The talk, is that apparently it's being proposed that a launch system, Startram, (if passed) will use mag. lev. trains, a 1000mi tunnel, and a superonducting cable to reach low Earth orbit; and all of this is assumingly going to cost a lot less than any rocket.

My question, though, is why do we need to send these things into space? To clutter up the outside universe like we already have done to our own planet? What is the point?

And the answer is: The world may never know... V_V,

Also:

"To build a passenger-carrying version of this Startram system, the team estimates it would take 20 years and $60 billion - which may sound like a lot, but when you consider it took almost three times that much to get the space shuttle off the ground, it's a steal. And once it's built, it would only cost $50 per kilogram to send things into orbit, compared to the current rates of $10,000 per kilogram for cargo and $100,000 per kilogram for people. That means a ticket to space would only cost about $5,000, and the designers estimate the accident rates would be on par with modern airliners."

just one more thing to think about! :/

what I have learned from the presentations made today:

Well, from my own groups, I did quite a bit of checking up on Spezify.com.
It is as we have said, basically just a search engine for names.
From others, however, I have learned that it may very well be a good idea to set up alerts for my name (and my many nick names I have set up).
I like how one group told us of how to delete our Google search history, and another had told us ways to spot a trustworthy site to give our credit card numbers (...not like I have one anyways, but still very useful to know).
Although, I think I learned the most from my group, because there was a lot of information I was searching and looking up.
Not only that, but I had my 'teammates' presenting topics and ideas that I had somehow missed!
All-in-all, not a bad project. Granted, we were a little 'frustrated' (could of been worse, but could've also been better... '^_^) when our first prezi had frozen up and we had to start all from scratch again, but still a very wise lesson was learned for all. :)

digital Footprints

So, for this week (well... today, really) Mrs. Archer had us watch a few youtube videos about "Digital Footprints".
Well, I can't really speak for everyone else, but what I had caught onto was that it doesn't really matter if you're speaking food-wise or computer-wise; Cookies aren't good. Especially for your computer, that's when they are the worst. They keep tables on where you've been, what you've seen, what you've written, et cetera.
I think it was only a few weeks ago, my step brother in-law was working with my laptop (I was having trouble with our wireless internet at home; couldn't pick up service for some odd reason... anyhow) he's a complete whiz when it comes to this kind of stuff, and he pointed out to me that I was in dire need of cleaning out my cookies and things lodged helplessly on my poor machine.... it was piled up and I've only had my poor laptop since August! O.O good thing I have him, or I wouldn't of known a thing!
Anyways, I guess two things can link together like this, huh? Well, this is the most important thing I've learned... er.. recently '^_^ but I find it quite interesting! I will be sure to keep up in cleaning out my system a lot more now!
~Thank You, Jay and Mrs. Archer! :D

art therapy

Art therapy -- one thing i am interested in furthering my education in. :)

Google alerts.

When Mrs. Archer first presented to the class about setting up Google Alerts for things we might be interested in and want information on, she had us set up one for 'Technology', however, I took it to my own advantage and set up a few other alerts for things i knew i really wanted information on. Today, i spotted this one:

http://geekout.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/26/manga-in-the-heart-of-europe/

The author of the blog talks about their trip to Europe, how they stayed with the kind locals during the night and toured during the day. She talks of how amazing it is that she got the chance at an up close look on how manga/anime is growing just as strong as it is anywhere else in the world.

"..I flipped through “Peach Girl” at the bookstore in Wiesloch. I checked out “Bleach” at a bookshop in Heidelberg not far from Heidelberg Castle, which you can see in Naoki Urasawa’s “Monster.” I could go into a mall, say, “anime,” and be pointed in the right direction. I didn’t have much time for television watching, but I did see “One Piece” in German and “Naruto” in French. And, yes, I bought myself “Yu-Gi-Oh Der Film” from the fair.."

I find this really interesting because it just goes to show you just how popular this stuff really is; it has gone global! :D that way everyone around the world can create their own manga 'addiction'.
I've seen somewhere, and I somewhat agree, a sentence that says:
"Anime: Drugs would be cheaper."
The only problem is, is that it just wouldn't be nearly as fun nor entertaining!!
keep the 'addiction' spreading, everyone! :D

this class......... So far.

Oki. So... This class has been a little helpful, but also a bit confusing.. i've learned a little about a few things i accidentally threw myself into completely blindfolded (google+)... uhm... this last project has been a little confusing (everyone else is doing soooo much better than my group!!! TTATT Also, courier looks like a label from a label maker like this. '^^. =3 hahah. by the way, this guy ('^^. =3), he is George and he is letting out a nervous sigh. he makes other faces too, so be on the look out! :D oh, and i love the way it's easy to communicate, but google's powerpoint program is sooooo FRUSTRATING!! i have so much to say; but no more to really say about this class.... love Graphics; LOVE working with Photoshop. anyways, i will be back again later for a new random post... :D have fun 'til then; until it's time once again FOR.....

                  "Dori's Random Posts!!" hahahahah.... '^_^

Digital Nation

I think that teaching children at a young age how to use the internet and such to their advantage is a good thing, but everyone should also remember (like the young children being taught in Korea) that it has it's limits and disadvantages, too. we are just going farther and deeper to where we can no longer recognize if all this technology is a good thing, or rather, a bad thing. All we do recognize today, is that we are already too far to tuck tail and go back.
